 Frequently Asked Questions
Can IEP Planner run on different Operating Systems?
Yes. IEP Planner can also run in districts that utilize both platforms concurrently. In a network configuration, IEP Planner can run on Windows, Mac, or Linux servers.
What software was IEP Planner developed with?
IEP Planner was developed using Filemaker Pro, a very popular and widely used cross-platform database design software.
Can all the members of my team access the same database?
IEP Planner can be installed as either a standalone or network configured database. In a network configuration all team members have access to the same database. Although access to individual student records can be limited if so desired.
Can IEP Planner be accessed remotely?
Yes. While IEP Planner is a network based program, it can be accessed remotely by utilizing additional software (e.g., Citrix, Terminal Services) and hardware, which would be provided and supported by your school district.
Is information automatically saved, or must you click to save before changing screens?
Information entered into IEP Planner is automatically saved relieving the user from the burden of remembering to save entered information.
Can the demographic information from our current system be imported into IEP Planner?
Demographic information can usually be imported into IEP Planner, depending on the ability of your current program to export the data and the way information was entered into your current program (e.g., first name and last name entered into separate fields.)
Are IEP Planner Goals linked to New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards?
Yes, each goal within IEP Planner is linked to a Core Curriculum Content Standard (which may be changed at the user’s discretion.)
Will we have access to the Goals and Objectives database if we want to make changes?
Yes. IEP Planner is one of the few special education data management systems that will allow you to change statements in the master databases. Therefore, should your school want to add or change a goal or objective statement, you have the ability to do so.
Can we create our own local report layouts within IEP Planner?
Yes! Unlike some other special education data management systems, IEP Planner enables the user to create local report layouts simply by finding a group of students based on certain criteria and then by creating a list layout with column heading chosen by the user. Once formatted, the newly created list can be saved in a “Local Reports” section for future use.
How is State/Federal report information entered into IEP Planner?
Since IEP Planner is a single entry system, report information is entered within the Student Information and Document sections and is then tracked to other sections of the program (e.g., lists and reports).
Can NJ SMART special education required information be exported from IEP Planner?
Yes, NJ SMART Special Education required information can be exported from IEP Planner in the form of an Excel Spreadsheet or Tab Delimited File. IEP Planner also includes an NJ SMART Edit Failures Report which should be reviewed prior to the data export.
How often is IEP Planner updated?
IEP Planner is updated (usually remotely) on an as needed basis to reflect State and Federal Special Education requirement changes and State/Federal reporting requirement changes. IEP Planner updates also include user requested changes and in-house enhancements.
What type of training is included in the original cost of IEP Planner?
